Default Can't start Gio 200cc

hi guys,

i have finally got this built, and fixed a leak in the carb. I got it started for about 5 minutes yesturday and then it died and couldn't fire it back up, so i trickled charged the battery and still no luck today. I went and got a new plug, however at canadian tire they didn't have the ngk c7hsa so they gave me a champion which they said was a direct fit but it wasn't. Any recommendations on another plug?

i took the factory spark plug out and it is black instead of a nice tan color. i can't get this thing running...any ideas on what i should be checking for?

Is it turning over ? If it's turning over are you getting spark ? What about any kill switches or brake saftey switches, have you checked them ? I use a NGK D8EA for my Taotao 250 and it should fit your engine also.

Just some ideas...................Slydog

right now i wouldn't worry about the spark plug color, if it ran only 5 minutes and the choke was on the the spark plug will show black because more fuel less air, first thing you need to determind is weather you're getting a igition sourse, take the plug out and lay it on the engine cylinder, make sure all switches are on and that the brake levers are applied then crank the engine over and look at the spark plug and see if their's a spark. if their is reinstall spark plug and try to start it and don't forget to put the choke on and press the rear brake lever weather it foot or hand operated. if their isn't a spark then you need to start looking for a loose wire connector, malke sure all wire connectors are push in and are making contact with each other, double check the wires going into the cdi

i have one of the same atvs for sale......they are a pain in the *** to start cold.....every time i go to start it i get mad....hold the choke wide open....and keep cranking,,,once it is started you have to fiddle with the choke and gas until it is really warm...

I pulled the plug and put it on the engine block and tried to start it....no spark. I changed the plug and did the same thing....no spark. I traced the black wire back to the solenoid, but how can i tell if that is not working? what else should i check?

thanks...

got it figured out. there is a loose contact on the kill swtich. Now my next question is, why is it so difficult to go from neutral to first? everytime i try to put it into gear, it jerks and stalls out? Am i missing something? There is no clutch to push down on.

thanks,
