02 Grizzly
#1
I'm going to look at an 02 660 Grizzly in the next couple days. I was wondering if there's any problems with this bike other than rider abuse?
Was reading about axels popping out on some of the 700s, and over heating on the 600s. Does the 660s have these same issues? Or any other major issues I could spot by just looking or taking a short slow ride?
The bike is supposed to have about 500 miles on it. Seems a bit low for an 02. Is there a way to reset the odometer/hour meter on these? Or possibly it was disconnected? (Can't think of why anyone would want to.)

Thanks for the reply. I actually looked at it yesterday and purchased it.
02 with 430 miles and almost 300 hours. heh
Came with an almost brand new set of Big horns on ITP chrome rims and 2 winches. 1 that's mounted to the back rack and one that's in pieces for the front.
Little sea air corrosion on it but other than that seems to be in pretty good shape.
Seems to be a little squirrly once it gets above 40 mph though. I think it might have something to do with the rear wheels. The offset on them puts them out just over 3 inches more than the fronts. Do I need the same offset as the fronts?
I was looking at your pictures and looks like your rear wheels are very close to same offset as the front.

Thanks Hebs,
Where would the heat shield be if this recall was done? Only thing I noticed was a heat wrap around the air filter box.
And do these bikes need the muffler packed? This bike is alot louder than the 500 Foreman my brother has. And it looks like the exhaust is all stock?

The heat shield is under the tank or the plastic piece thats under the tank.
I did forget to mention one minor flaw. You'll see allot of people complaining that their bike cuts out when the go into water and they think they have an electrical problem or carbarator prob. The problem it steam comming from the exhaust headers and flowing up through the plastics. If you notice on the newer Grizzly's they have much bigger vent holes in the side plastics than the 02's.
I'm planning on putting pipe wrap on my header pipe like the old school choppers used to do this will solve both problems. It's really not that big of a deal though just ease into the water the first time and ALWAYS make sure you get your radiator cleaned real good after a ride.

Ok, I did see a heat shield around the pipes under the tank, so I guess that's been done.
Not much water to ride in around here so I won't have to worry about that much. lol
I did read about some different side covers for the older Grizzlies. Are they just like the newer ones? And will newer plastics bolt right up to the 02?
