i have an 87 250X that won't start. it's getting spark, getting fuel, has good compression, it's in timing, but it won't start. i put a new CDI box on it, i have tried adjusting the valves and the compression release, and still nothing. When i kick it every now and then it will try to start, but won't. i've tried pulling it to start it, and that doesn't work either. The local honda dealer won't work on because it's too old. I am confused! any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

did you clean out the carb? If its getting spark and fuel but not starting may just be kinda clogged. Just the typical fix. Just an option. Best of luck.

 

try draining the carb first and getting new fuel in carb.

 

the guy that is working on it said that the stator voltage looked a little funny, but nothing that should keep it from running. i'll try cleaning the carb also.

 

What were the results of the compression test. I now have the same problem on an identical bike. Just wondering what the compression should be?
