Hello,

I just purchased a 2003 Kawasaki Bayou 250 and it vibrates like crazy. So much so that I feel like am am doing damage to it by riding it. Does anybody have a clue wht this could be? Wife is going to kill me if I bought junk. PLEASE HELP

the first thing to check is al of the engine mounts. there is one on the head under the tank, one on the front and one on the rear of the engine. the 220 and 250 have an engine balancer that runs off of the crank. it could be that it is out of alignment. to check you will need to pull the clutch cover. it is at the front of the engine and there is a dot on the balancer gear and a gear on the crank that should be aligned. Also there is a key on the balancer shaft so it could be broken and cause a misalignment.

it is not hard to fix if it is the problem. you will have to remove the balancer gear nut and pull the gear then alight the punch mark on the balancer gear with the one on the gear that is on the crank. then torque the balancer nut.

check your pm

 

Is it vibration while you just sit still and rev it? If it's doing it while driving and not while your sitting still then you need to check for mud on the backside of your rims. If it don't have mud there then take the tires off and shake them. You could have dirt or water inside your tires. If that's not it and it's shaking ONLY while driving then check the universal goint going to the rear end.
