Default 450r rocker wore out!

My '05 450r spit out the needles from the roller rocker. Has anybody seen this before?

nope, but if you are replacing it, get the lightweight aftermarket one to replace it. I think Sparks sells one, not sure if anyone else does.

You need to check to make sure your getting the proper amount of oil up there.

Got to ask what oil you use? What are the usual ambinent temperatures where you ride, and what weight of oil do you run???

I'm not sure what brand or weight you should use. I've never had a sport quad before. I don't think it would be the brand or weight though, sounds more like starvation to me to the top end.

Just exploring all the possibilities!

Could have also been a faulty bearing.

I have not heard of this before, so it is most likely a fluke part that failed.

I've never heard of it either. I didn't see that it's an 05 model so that's probably all it is. If it happened again I'd look into more then. Good luck.

I rode it 4 hours. It started ticking like the valves were loose. I knew it had shims so I took it to somebody that had the shims and when he pulled the valve cover he saw the needles hanging out of the roller. Tore it down and the piston top looks pretty clean for an '05. I hope it WAS a fluke. It really makes me sick to tell you the truth!
