Default Plunger Joint Removal

I replaced one plunger joint last week on my 2003, 500HO sportsman. The second also needs replacement in my estimation. The first side just fell out, as the split ring and spline where non exsistent. I have read the posts and a sharp hard pull on the axel or hub is not working. Any other ideas?
The ATV has 9000KM and it seems to me that the spline should last longer. Any comments on these plunger joints is appriciated.

Yes you're right. What a snap I put on it. I think my shoulder joints came out too.
