What causes compression thats too high?
#1
I have taken then cam out. Inspected decompression and it works good. Lashed the valves, but my starting compression is still so high that i can only turn it over about 10 times very slowly (too slow to start) before the brand new battery pukes. Its eaten 2 solenoids from the high current draw. Have u guys seen a chain jump on the cam or crank gear? What would be the cause?

Hard to believe it runs down a fully charged battery in 10 seconds. Seems more likely you have a bad connection somewhere and the starter just barely gets enough to spin it under ideal conditions but doesnt after you pull a ton of current for 10 seconds. What kind of quad? Can you pull the plug out and spin the motor manually to see if there is really physical resistance there?
