Swisher mounting bracket
#1
Thinking about buying the Swisher Dump Bucket to move a dirt/sand pile and scrap off the pond in the winter time for skating.
I'm wondering about the mounting bracket. Saw one guy post on Cabela's site that the mouning bracket is too short for the sportsman. Wondering if anyone has it mounted on their bike and how does it fit?? Do I need the extension for my full-size sportsman?
Thanks,

I have one on my 800. I concur it is about 4-6 inches too short. It works but there are a couple of issues.
The instructions say mount the front frame so that the pin holder is approximately 2" in front of the tires.
It is about 2" short.
1) to put the pin in to mount the tires need to be turned either left or right
2) With my Glacier2 mount still on the quad at full lift, where my winch runs out, it hits the mount, frame being further out would stop that.
It rides really low and makes the sportsman no fun to ride. Really stiff.
I planned to post a step by step, but time is an issue.
I have several Pics I took posted them on my site today.

Thanks for the reply. Looking at your pix, it looks like you have spacers under the hitch to the mount. Is this correct? Are they needed? Looks like you lose a lot of clearance.
So it being short only makes it tought to put the pin in? Do you loose how high you can lift it by it being short?
Thanks again for the all the info

The Spacers are included and per the instructions you mount that kit under the bottom "Level" I had to turn the Hitch receiver over so it pretty much leveled the unit under there. i.e it is the Polaris Flat plate receiver and rather than the plate on top it is on the bottom.
I don't believe having the extra length would gain much in Bucket lift. The Bucket pivots from that bracket point you see in my Front view picture. The real limit on the lift height is the winch runs out of room. In that pic on the top you can see about how high it goes, the teeth are just about level with the Front box top on my 800.
Observations about usage, I need a 2" lift up front and maybe eventually stiffer springs too or try just the springs. Lift because it already sags with the winch and my plow. With a lift, it may raise it overall just enough that it will work a bit better.
The bucket like most ATV implements has no downward pressure. It tends to ride up over hard stuff. If it had just a bit of down angle on the Bucket teeth it would do even better. Not digging but picking things up.
I moved about 20 cu Ft of Fresh and Heavy Compost for the wife to make raised Beds. A full heaping load would cause the 2.5T Polaris winch to sag/slip a bit.
I also nibbled or gnawed away at a narrow littl path against the hillside so I could get just enough "flattened" path between that hill and my Burn pit to pass through that area with a utility trailer. It did that well.
I was thinking also if I put a ****** block like pulley at the bucket/winch attachment and had a good place for the end of the winch cable it would go a couple of inches higher but mostly would giv me a bit more control over position and not work the winch so much weight wise.
Bucket release needs a pulley to add leverage - When it is full it is tough to pull the release.
I could scan the instructions and send you a copy if you like, Also it wouldn't be much to take more pics and email them Full size. Just PM me your address.
