2007 700EFI brakes squeaking...help!
#1
I bought my 2007 700 EFI brand new back in August. I LOVE this thing. No issues at all except this..... When ever I apply the brakes, a little OR a lot, the front brakes squeak. It has done it since day one, and the ATV has not quite 200 miles on it, and it still does it just the same. Its the exact same sound that you hear from some automobile disc brakes. That annoying squeaking. The back brake doesn't make a peep. Just the front. I thought maybe they would "wear in" and gradually get less and less loud. But nope. it's the same as day one. The brakes work just fine, so it doesn't affect performance of the brakes. It's just annoying when you are riding with a bunch of guys, and your brand new machine starts sounding like a 1985 Honda Big Red or something:-)
Anyone have any ideas on how to quiet this thing down some?

Are the brakes still in good shape? They should be with those miles. The first thing that pops into my mind is that there may be oil or something on it that's making it slip instead of grab. I had that on my scooter one time. Try spraying some brake cleaner on it.

Mine do it from time to time. I found a spray called desquek, I think. All you do is spay just a little bit on the disc and go for a ride. Use the brakes a few times and you sould here nothing but engine. You can pick a can up at autozone.

You can adjust the idle in about two seconds. Lift the seat and remove left side panal. Look under the frame until you see a scew comeing from what looks like a hose. Crank it up and turn the screw until you get what you want. There is an ilistration on this in you owners manual.

brakes will sqeak from time to time thats normal, the other thing is maybe there is a little grit or gravel imbedded on the pad. ive heard too if they sit for a longer period of time , the rotor will rust a little causing them to squeak alittle till the pad cleans off the surface. i don't know about the pads on atvs, but the pads on cars and trucks these days are made of a semi metalic material , so they speak a little from time to time, unless u get a ceramic pad.
the other thing is too that sometimes what can happen is u can glaze the surface of the pad due to the heat , and that will make them squeak, in that case theres not alot you can do than replace them. just some ideas
