Default K&N Air Filters for Sportsman 800 Touring '08

Aloha!

I would appreciate any feedback positive/negative of your experience with K&N Air Filters for your Polaris Quad, preferably for the Sportsman 800 quads. Should I get one for mine? I ride in all kinds of terrain from rocky, sand and dusty to wet and muddy. What is the gain in power? Is there better throttle response? Is the warranty on the bike void if I install one and something goes horribly wrong?

All feedback highly appreciated.

Best regards,

I have used k&n on my Popo 600 (and every other vehicle I have) which is essentualy the same as a 800 since it was new and never any issues at all I also have the Pure polaris exhaust and all works great together Resopnse is better than stock though not huge but noticeable. I have over 4000 miles on mine all in the mountains of Co. It just makes for allot easy'r maintenance for me!

Thanks for this DODGE57HEMI

Is your bike louder with the Pure Polaris Exhaust?

Yes it is slightly louder than stock. During hunting season I will put the stock muffler back on to help keep it as quite as poss!

If you buy the K&N be shure to buy the outwears cover for it as well. It will help you from cleaning the actual filter as much.

My best friend has K&N filters on his whole family's quads. They're disintegrating and sucking up so much dirt he has to keep rebuilding engines. I use stock and have no problems at all, even if 10 people are ahead of me kicking up dust.

I have used K&N forever and really don't notice any real difference in performance. I wish I did. I appreciate the fact that you can wash them so that is why I buy them. The dust issue I had never thought of before but it could well be a valid point. My old Popo 700 had to have the engine rebuilt last year and it always ran back in the pack and sucked up a lot of dust. This past weekend our Wolvy 450 had to have the carb cleaned from being clogged with dust and that bike usually runs back in the pack. Makes me wonder.

I just re-used the Polaris sock on the new K&N filters on both my Sportsmans.

KN lets more air in? If so, more dust. Stock with a prefilter is the way to keep dust out.
