Default 08 800 Crabbyness...

So, I went out riding with a friend yesterday. We only got about a half an hour of riding in before mine crapped out. It is a brand new 08 800 with about 12 or 13 hours on it. Basically, I noticed that it didn't have the normal power it had so I looked down at the speedo. Sure enough, the check engine light was on. I stopped and told my buddy we should head back before I break down. While stopped, the idle would not stay in one spot. It was sitting at almost 1400 rpm's.... On the drive back to the truck it was mis firing and such. Needless to say I'm not a happy camper as that ruined my weekend of riding...good thing we were only a half an hour away from home though. I guess I have to take it in next weekend as I cannot get off of work this week at all. Hope everyone does not have the luck I have...

Not to sound like a noob (even though I guess I am :-) ) how do I check the codes? I haven't gotten that figured out yet.

cycle ur ignition switch on and off without starting in 3 times within 5 seconds, on the last one, leave the key on, then it'll blink codes at you on the screen

well here it is anyways. w/ the bike in park and off turn the key on(not start) and then turn it off and on 3 times w/ in 5 seconda leaving it on on the last time. the stored codes will appear then the number 61 and or the word end.

I will have to check that out. Thanks guys! I'll have to give my dad a call and have him try that since that is where I store it. Takes me a half an hour to get there, otherwise I would do it. I'll let you know when I find out.

Thanks again!

Since it's new you should take it to the dealer. They'll check the codes and fix it for you. That's what warrantys are for.

Yes, I am doing that. I will be taking it there this coming Saturday. I would do it sooner, but I don't have a truck. I'm working on getting a trailer hitch for my car since I cannot afford a truck. I'll let you guys know what they found. I have a feeling there may have been something bad since I bought it since the idle has always been too high.

I have a 5x8 tiltbed that's perfect for one quad. It weighs 600 pounds but can haul a ton, literally 1 ton. I've had trucks since before I had a quad and haven't hauled a quad in one in the last 8 years. I'll never haul it in the truck no matter how many trucks I buy. Even if you could afford a truck I'd still reccomend the trailer, as would several other members here.

Good luck chevyman. I hope you get it back soon and can ride some more.
