87 Trailboss 250 2 stroke

New topend

Kind of hard to explain but if you think about a newer car and there rev limiters. Engine hits a certain RPM and the RPM's go up and down limiting you to go higher. Kind of sounds like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...uFO2FA&feature=related

not sure what the question is but 99% of quads have a rev limiter on the engine. to keep from engine damage. if your hitting the limiter and need more speed change the sprockets. you'll lose some bottom end but gain on top end speed

yeah i guess it would'nt be good to be held back by the wrong limiter,i tried to get an aftermarket upgrade, no one offers one for this year, not that i need one just did'nt know better, cause i don't think it has one, cause i've been over 65+still accelerating just ran out of room.

Reason I ask is because if you punch the throttle the engine shoots up pretty quick but hits the rev limiter. But I don't think I am going more the 15 mph?? I found out last night that the float is dumping to much fuel into carb. Going to rebuild it. Wondering if the carb fuel/air mixture is the problem. I reset it to stock what manual says and now it will idle. Used to not want to idle. Could to much fuel cause a miss or cause the engine to act like a rev limiter?

Ok all finally got the float needle and seat in. It is not longer dumping fuel from the exhuast pipe. Starts up much easier now. Seems to still have the limiter in the rpm's. Listen to the sound byte and tell me what you think. Does the carb need to be adjusted or what?
