I never had 400 2-stroke, but I think the only oil in it is the counterbalance.

You have 2-wheel drive, right? Whether they fit or not, you need a 4x4 for mud. If you DON"T need 4x4 where you're going, you don't need mud tires either. That's just my opinion, but I'm sure some others will agree.

If the oil injection is hooked up you put oila in the front tank on the hood. You need to check the counter balance oil either at the plug in the front of the motor or by a dip stick under the carb.Tranny is checked with a dip stick on the side of the tranny. If you have a speedo that doesnt work the main thing is the speedo drive unit or the cable.(you dont need to know how fast you are going)
The 400 is a great machine but be warned if it has a stock piston it WILL break the skirt off and cause big $$$$$ damage.

nope it is a 4x4 wouldnt have gotten anyother the rims are 12' in the front and 10' in the back... so i hope they would work... and its not that the speedo dont work.. its not there at all.. i dont know if someone took it off or what but kinda hard to tell how many miles are on it.. and i dont know where the dip stick is for the counter balancer i think i found the one for the trani if its on the right side a metal push in dipstick.. and i supose there is no way to tell if its the stock piston or not is there?

If you dont see a slotted screw under the carb on the crankcase you will have to check the counterr balance in the front bottom of the engine. If you plan on keeping it you may be $$$ ahead to go ahead and do a topend using a Wiesco piston
