1st oil change any hints?
#1
I am about to do the first oil change on our 08 700 Grizz and 08 450 Grizz. I was just wondering if the was any tricks or spiecal tools to help make the job go smoother. I have never changed the oil on an ATV before so any help would be apprecated. Also I planned on useing Yamaha oil is there something else that is better. I am not trying to start a pissing war. Just would like some ideas.

Thanks for the input. I am going to my local dealer and see what they have in stock I know they have Yamaha oil. The ATV sure looks different with a few of the body panels off.

be sure to put the oil filter in correctly if it is a canister. a guy i work with decided to change his oil on his new '08 Honda 500 and he put the filter in backwards and burned the top end of his motor up and it only had 50 hours on it. cost him 800 bucks. the dealer was nice and covered the other 800 bucks of the new motor.

On Honda's it can happen if you are not paying attention...... Very bad design in my opinion.. I am surprised they still use it... Honda's have a canister type filter -- looks like a small air filter... it is not an Automotive type Oil filter like on the Yamaha's. My Honda XR250 had that canister type..;
Personally I would stick with OEM Yamaha Filters and Yama-lube for your Grizzly's
