I am looking at a kit from K&K Atv that consists of: LRD pipes, Delta V-Force Reed Cages, Pro Design Cool Head, and Kehiln 28mm Carbs. I was just wondering if I need the bigger carbs to handle the other mods, or would it be better to jet my stock carbs?

 

You can rejet your stock carbs to handle the mods. I looked into larger carbs also and was informed that the larger ends will fit into the intake boots, but its a tight fit and you stand a chance of tearing the boots after awhile. They recommended I change the intake also. All in all, it would end up costing me $600 bucks. You can have the stock carbs bored to 28mm, but the round slide isn't as good as a flat slide carb. If you are going to change them, go with the 34mm carbs. I hear they work real well, from a reputable local quad shop, with the modifications you are talking about. Your only talking about $30 more for the larger ones anyway.

What other mods do you have done to your banshee? If you dont have any porting the 34's will hurt overall performance. If your running a bigbore kit and/or you ride in the dunes only I would say yes to the bigger carbs. I run a 370longrod with the stock carbs, I plan on going to a set of the 28's myself to add a little more hp. I could go with a set of 34's but i would sacrafice low end and I am happy with the way it runs. You can run 28's with the stock boots... If you go with 30's or larger you wont have a choice but to buy an intake manifold. I have done alot of research into carbs for my banshee and if I lived in SoCali and rode glamis all the time then I would run 30-33's. Another thing you have to think about is throttle pull. I am not sure if you still run the stock thumb throttle (I do). If you go with a pair of 34's the thumb pull will be much greater than it already is. I plan on going to a 400 longrod in the next year or so and I only plan on running the 28's and if anything I will have them bored to 30's, but as of right now I will go with the 28's.
