ok so i was searching on the forums but didnt see anything that suited this... my 94 400L 4x4 kind of pops outta gear easy...now it does once in a while for me but i noticed it more when my friend road it.. is there anything that wears out or could it be from not getting it put in gear all the way??

 

is there adjustments on your linkage to adjust? does it only do it in forward and not reverse? maybe the everything like the joints are worn enough so the slop is not letting it go into gear all the way. just a guess.

 

i think maybe it pops outta reverse more than in forword... where would i look for adjustments?

 

right behind the shifter, i would also say thats the problem

 

The threaded rods have a jam nut on them. Loosen the jam nut, adjust the length of the rod, tighten the jam nut.

 

the rod? are you talking about the shifter... or somthing else... and do i make it shorter or longer?

 

Try the adjustment. BUT that probably won't work. That vintage transmission is known for this. I in fact am looking for one. Good luck Doc

 

Also change the oil in the shifter and clean the parts inside it.
