I've found one for sale that seems to be in good condition. 200cc, chain drive, 5-speed, front shocks... Thought I'd see what you guys think.Would it be a good buy for under $1000.00? Thanks... Here's a pic...

You really don't see many Yamahas around
It is kind of cool
I kind of like my Hondas
But also like different
It is not RED so it would stand out in a croud
I would talk the person down best way to find out what to offer is see if you can find out why they are selling
Then make offer based on your lowest dollar
I have found many cases where they were not insulted they just threw a price out and hoped for best
Me
I would start at about $250 and no more than 500
It does work
But I am cheap
Good luck

I had an 83, same bike but it was an EK with shaft drive and electric start. 1000 is too much for that. Maybe if it was in REALLY good shape. 600-800 is probably what I'd be willing to pay for it.
Watch the RPM with them. The valve lifters don't have bearings in them, they just sit in the head and are lubricated by oil. When it's running if you hear a tick-tick, then it's worn and has been overreved. You have to replace the head to fix it. Mine ran forever like that though, but it's annoying to hear. They are fun. Yamaha's were the wheelie kings!
