2007 TAOTAO 100cc front sprocket size???
#1
I need more power for hills and less speed is OK. Can I switch to a front sprocket with fewer teeth? Anyone know how many teeth on stock sprocket? What tooth count do I need? Sources?

Yes, you can change the front sprocket very easily to gain more low end torque.
1st - you have to find out if you have a 420 or 428 chain - maybe something in the advertising literature ??? (the diameter of the chain 'roller' is different, thus making the 'valley' in the gear a different radius)
2nd - remove the front sprocket that you have on your machine.
3rd - go to ebay and type in 'ATV Sprocket' and then compare your sprocket to the pictures.
4th - Get new sprocket and install (allen head cap type mounting bolts work better for smaller sprockets to reduce bolt head 'interference' with chain). Adjust chain at rear axle bearing carrier for decrease in over size.

remove the front spocket cover, on the factory spockets (not after market spockets) most will have the chain size on it in big numbers, then you will need to count the teeth, most chinese engines use the 14 tooth front spockets, next you will need to measure the countershaft diameter, (inside of the spocket splines) the shaft is eaither 17mm or 20mm. here's a ebay dealer that has all the differant sizes in both 420 and 428 chain sizes and 17 or 20mm shaft sizes
