Has anyone done this?? It's a PAIN to rock that thing back to nuetral when it's stuck in the mud.

I did a search and found a post from Gordon Banks in the Honda forums that explained the procedure very well for a "cheater switch", as he calls it. Should be very simple to do. Only problem is the wire color coding obviously doesn't co-ordinate with AC's.

I have found the gear indicator sensor and wires, the starter relay switch, and the plug in the starter selenoid. Just not sure which wire to splice into for the new switch. Or perhaps there is an easier way??

Thanks,
Mike

We had the "start in gear feature" installed on my wife's 99 300.She was having the same complaint. However the AC dealer installed it, so can't help you on how. I think the kit had a relay and hooked up to the brake light wire.
Not sure what the kit cost if you install it.
The "start in gear" is a very nice improvement.
AC sells the kit you need.

MaxandBlade, Thanks for the reply. I have been thinking about getting that exact same tire setup for my AC 300. When you try out the high range and get some more "test riding" done with the Outlaws can you let me know what you think? If every thing works to your satisfaction then that is going to be the tire set that i will get. Thanks again.

I have done it on my 96 King Quad but then I am not sure the color codes are the same. If you email me a copy of the schematic I will take a look at it.

The hardest part I had was trying to get to the relay to jumper the wires. Had to remove the battery and front plastic.

racnooc,

No problem at all. I probably won't get a chance to make a good run until the weekend after next. Hopefully, it will be earlier than that, either way, I'll let ya know.

Thanks everyone for the replies,

winston,

I didn't realize AC had that kit available. Thanks. I'm going to check with my local dealer tomorrow on the price.

ecbaatz,

My dealer just got the sevice manual in the other day I had asked him to order. Just haven't gone to pick it up yet. That's part of my problem, I don't have an actual AC schematic to review. After I get it though, and if I need a hand, I'll email ya. Thanks.

I am interested in adding the start in gear for my 99 300 4X4 also. If you get a price from the dealer on this kit would you post it or drop me an email. Thanks
