Default Red light on

I have been having trouble finding the cause of the red heat indicator light coming on, on my Grizzly 600, 2001 model. It started following a run through the mud. I later checked the temp module (ok) then put a new air filter in place. This stopped the light from coming on. However, last week I decided to hit some water rather hard and it started again. Since it doesn't seem to be the temp gage, is it likely somewhere in the fan or oil cooler?

Did you ever find out what happened? Mine did almost the same thing just as you described.

I hit some mud and soon, the light started coming on.

Let me know!

I have concluded that the hot steam coming up from water or mud hitting the hot engine is being picked up my the temperature sensor. It has nothing to do with the actual internal temperature of the engine oil cooling mechanism. It's agrivating, however, not as great a problem as I had throught earlier. I stop occasionally now and let the cooler fan run without the engine on and it seems to help.
