Default 2008 Yamaha Grizzly 700 modifications

Hello,

I'm in the market to purchase a new ATV and basically I would like to know what performance modifications are out there, for both suspension and engine. Also, can you tell me how you benefited from these modifications?

My decision is based on overall power and durability. Getting more for your money is another thing I'm taking into consideration.

The tossup is between a 08 Kawasaki Brute Force 750/650/650 (SRA) vs. 08 Yamaha Grizzly 700.

Thank you for your answers.

Pete

Suspension:

Elka, Works, Ohlins, Fox, HLS, Crutchfield, and possibly Stadium all make aftermarket suspension for the Grizz 700, all with various options of adjustments. Will generally make the quad sit lower, handle better, powerslide better, etc.

Motor:

Air Filters; K&N, TwinAir, UNI
EFI Programmers; Dynojet, Dobeck, Big Gun, Two Bros, Moose...some of these just might be re-branded Dynojet's
Exhaust; HMF, FMF, Supertrapp, Two Bros, Big Gun, Leo Vince, Yoshimura (maybe...call them)
Camshafts; Webcamshafts, Hotcams (maybe...call them)
Pistons; JE Pistons, Wiseco Pistons
Big Bore Kits; Trinity Racing 727/734 (advertised for Raptor 700, but seen a Dirtwheels Project Grizzly 700 with 727 kit)

Thats all I can think of offhand, any company that makes motor stuff for the Raptor 700, it MIGHT work for the Grizzly, so give them a call and ask. Hope this helps, might be more...just a sampling.

We have two 2007 Grizzly 700s. My wife's is stock, and mine has Ohlins shocks, custom clutch tuning, a Dynatek CDI, and Flexx handlebars with Rox risers. The differences between those two Grizzlys is absolutely incredible. Her's feels like a lumber truck compared to mine. The suspension made the biggest difference, because it completely eliminates the front end dive under hard braking and body roll in turns, not to mention much better bump absorption. Corners don't seem to matter with the modded Grizzly, even if you come into the turn way too hot, and there is no chance you are going to be able to scrub off enough speed to steer around the turn. Just pin the throttle, throw it sideways, and back it into the turn at wide open throttle. Truly amazing. The clutch tuning and tire choice make a difference there as well (25" Terracross). The motor on both Grizzlys is stock, but the modded Grizzly will run away and hide from the stock grizzly.

This is an excellent evaluation of the two machines, and I appreciate you taking the time to write this up. Basically, I can get the 08 Grizzly with EPS for $200.00 more than the 08 Brute Force 750i The best price I could find on the Grizzly is $6,824 (OTD) and Brute Force $6,624 (OTD).

Is that a good deal?

Thanks again,

PEte
