Default 1993 Honda 300ex Questions

Just purchased a 1993 300ex

Here is all the stuff I know of that it has, and i'll list some extra parts as well.

Corbra exhaust
White brothers cam
High compression valve springs
jetted carb
K&N air filter and air box lid
axle extenders
New razor rear tires
3/4+ Fast tracker front tires

Spare parts given with quad: Renthal handle bars (already has them on, but these are new spare) spark plugs, oil filters, coil, CDI box......

Anyways my question is i'll always be looking for ways to make it faster and perform better.....but keep this in mind, i'm not a mechanic lol I can ride well, but don't know squat about fixiing anything.

So here goes...........what else can be done to this quad to maximize the performance, on a budget of around $600, keeping in mind that most of the work will be performed by a mechanic here locally. Give me your thoughts and ideas, along with the benefits and cost of doing so

All your help is greatly appreciated!!!

Josh

P.s. This is my first post woooooo hooo lol

Default 1993 Honda 300ex Questions

Sounds like its pretty well set up to begin with.

Older motor, time for a rebuild

Get a nice .060 over Wiseco piston, Kit and all top end gaskets is under 100$ on ebay.

At this point, you need to increase your airflow, Get a nice port and polish done on your cylander head, have the valves grinded, head decked if you want more compression,

Now you need to either bore out and rejet your carb, or get a 400ex carb off ebay. say 100$ either way, if you get the 400ex bore that and jet it, and now you are really talking power.

Intake tube might be a restriction now, I hear one off an ATC 350 X will fit, and its fatter.

Corba exhaust.. you DO have the header pipe also right?> not the dinky stocker I hope.

By now you have tons of extra power and are going to be running out of gear way before engine.

Drop a bunch of teeth on your rear sprocket, and maybe even go up 1 tooth on the front, now shell do 75 mph no problem.

Go for a hot CDI and now you probably have another 1500 rpm and more power, so say you are up to 80 / 85 mph on a 300 ex now
still with plenty of low for climbing hills in first or second (probably even 3rd and 4th now)

Get a 2001 raptor 660 shock, with the remote resevoir, its a nice unit and bolts RIGHT IN
you can go newer, i bought an 04 raptor shock, you just have to make room for the resevoir, might even be able to mount it upside down.

You could get wheel spacers for the front, runy ou about 70$ on ebay,

You can get 400 EX a arms and front shocks (or 450 R front shocks :- D )
and a 10$ conversion kit off ebay and youll have a wider, better suspended front end.

Skid plate that sucker up, get a nice bumper, and go smoke some banshees
