Hey guys, looking to get back on my quad but i need to figure out whats wrong first. I have a Yamaha Moto4 100cc (clutchless 4 speed.) The engine runs great for its age (88 to 92 i believe) but when i try to put it in gear it just clunks and clicks. The noises get worse the higher the gear i use (4th being the loudest.) Anyways I'm fairly new to mechanics and i don't know whats exactly wrong with it.

All info i can get on fixing this problem would be greatly apprieciated, especially now as i found out just how awesome some of the ORV areas are around here (Michigan.)

 

does it actully like move or just sit there n click?

 

Just sits and makes noise.

my buddies ha the same problem, it is most likely the ring gear
i would look on ebay, he a used one in great shape for like 40 or 50 bucks

I took as much apart as possible today and i'm 99% sure its not the clutch, or any of the rear drive items (driveshaft, axle, etc) I believe its the item that comes right before the driveshaft and is mounted in the crankcase (looks like I'll need to remove the driveshaft as well as the alternator to get to it) Does anyone know what part that could be? Trying to find replacement on ebay
