i think thats it. cant call the local dealer till tuesday. they are closed on mondays. how dumb. at any rate, the seal (if that is correct) is under 5 bucks and i get the gear oil at work for nothing. so im just out the pain in the **** of cleaning the hub and brake assembly. that crap got everywhere i went to adjust my rear brake that had just stopped working over the last few days and well now i know what the problem is. thank god it hasnt been ridden much. id be mad at having to replace the entire running gear over a 5 dollar part failure.

Usually if a seal is leaking in streams.. there is a reason it is junk... Bearings... Personally.. I would tear it apart -- inspect it... THEN order parts

i know what did the seal in. this big bear sat 7 years before i bought it and the differential fluid had never been changed. so i rode it around and got it warm then drained it. then i used brake cleaner to clean it out really well, forgetting that it was gonna eat my seals to **** even though it was blown dry with compressed air. so add those factors in, and when i had it out on the 4th of this month, i got dared to hit a BIG mudhole. well i hit it, marred it up to the gas tank and was giving it hell in 3rd trying to get out. so it was a couple of things that led to it failing. the brake cleaner just finished it off. im sure the age of the vehicle has a little to do with it as well. then the mud................that is another story for another thread.
