Default Some questions re Baja 90

Hi guys, after a week of driving the Baja 90 I had a few questions. P.S It's the Blue 2007 Wilderness model, with the digital speedometer.

1) My Carb overflow hose fell on my engine and burnt. About 1/2 of the hose remains, and just floats atop the engine. Is this OK? Or should I get a new pipe and get something to keep it away from the engine?

2) My gas tank vapor/excess gas hose has two little metal thingies (sorry for the real descriptive word) to help keep it locked to the top of the gas tank. It seems as though one end attaches to the gas tank's lid, however I don't know where the other end belongs. It is currently just dangling down, and this doesn't seem to be a problem, but just curious.

3) When I turn the key, the speedometer lights up with a gas tank indicator. However, after about 5 seconds it disappears and only shows the current km/h and the option of tripometer, total kms, or time. What happened to it?

4) I was going to replace the air filter with the K & N filter mentioned in the long Baja 90 post (Model # RU - 0160, K&N site). However, the stock filter doesn't have the little metal thing at the end (I don't think, I haven't actually opened it up), so could I just pop it in a leave it there?

Thanks.
