You probably have water in your gas or old gas, drain the tank, drain the carb (there is a brass plug on the bottom of the carb), fill it up with new gas, and put a can of sea foam in there and it should fix it.

I have ran 4 tanks of gas thur. it and drianed the carb replaced spark plug cleaned air filter bag and replaced the airfilter only does this when on ahill on level ground do not have a problem....wondering if the float in the carb is to low not having enough gas in the bowl..........if that is the problem not sure if it can be adjusted.....still just guessing

How about fuel fiter does it have one? Probably would do it all the time though not just on hills. I know when I had my Hawkeye and it had jetting issues anytime it was under a load thats how it acted. Going up hills, or in sticky mud

it has a fuel filter i have not changed it if that was the problem i was thinking it would do it on level ground..........it clears up with a second or too as soon as it hit level ground

first thing id do is drain all the fuel out of the tank and whole fuel system, and check the fuel lines and fuel filter. my hawkeye was having problems with that but on level ground and something was clogged in the fuel lines.

i have a buddy who has a 400 around the same year as yours & he experiences the same problems your saying... he gave up on it, it just sits there, he took it to get fixed and they replaced the ecm or something like that but it still boggs on hills... i told him to take it to the dealer and have them check it for recalls but he's to lazy so let me know what you find out so i can pick it up cheap off him and fix it...
