Default Front rim question

This maybe a stupid question but, can you flip a stock steel rim 180 degrees to get more offset?

Its just something that crossed my mind. I wouldn't be doing it, just curious if it can be done.

Yes,but check the valve stem for clearance on the brake caliper and the strut.I would recommend wheel spacers versus flipping the wheels.

As long as it clears the brake caliper and you may want to drill a new hole for the valve stem. I've seen it done and it seems to work out well for people.

Default Front rim question

I did the front and back, just as an experiment. I swapped sides to keep the direction of the tire rotation correct. It looked WEIRD. The back wheels were way out there. I rode it half a mile and switched it back. My front valve stems went tick, tick, tick, as they just barely hit. I think only the caps hit and not the stems.

Interesting. What is the offset on a stock front rim?

I've been wondering that myself. I can think of a few different ways to fill it but none of them seem very good. It would be much better to buy a set of wheel spacers than flip the wheels around IMO.

I was just wondering if it can be done, but a stock rim is 7 inches wide and 2+5 offset, if you flipped it, it would be 5+2. So you would stick out 3 more inches on each side, plus a inch more if you had a 10 inch tire, so, you would add 8 inches of width. ICK, it would suck on normal trails.

You can put an old valve stem in the hole you just put it inside the rim to fill the hole. I have never done it but i seen that done on a yamaha blaster.
