Grizzly 400 shock settings (stiffness)
#1
What have you guys found to get the bets settings all around? I'm thinking about leaving the rear on the softest setting where they are now (I think) from the factory, and adjusting the front ones up about 2 stiffness notches. I'm 250 lbs. Just because it almost rolled on me in the woods on the side of a hill, too soft and dangerous. I only have 20 miles on 'er so far. Thanks.
Oh and also can you do it with an adjustable wrench that grips hard or will it mess something up besides leaving some small marks?

Usually its better to run the front a bit stiffer than the rear to keep the nose from diving under hard braking, cornering, etc. I believe there is a preload wrench that you use to adjust the preload.

I also find the factory setting on the front too soft. It wants to nosedive on hard turns.
Try increasing the front two notches and let us know if and how much improvement you notice.

Grizzle,
I have my Griz (Trail Couch) set at the second highest in the front and the second lowest in the rear.
It keeps it from washing out in turns and riding like a wet sponge. Of course the rear it set for my comfort and when I load it up for trips I crank it up a notch to offset any sag.
I use one of those special shock wrenches as the channel locks sometimes chew up the adjusting ring if it gets all rusty or loaded with poo.
