400ex Suspension

Default 400ex Suspension

Is there a way to adjust the stock suspension of an EX? If not, I've heard 450r shocks fit the 400. Is it a big mess to try and get them to fit?

the fronts and rear are adjustable but there junk and yes 450r shocks will fit

This is basic stuff, just like for every quad on the planet. Surprised you don't know this already:

As I recall, the front is only adjustable for preload, but not rebound or compression (????). The rear is adjustable for preload, rebound, and compression. There isn't anything special about these units, but I wouldn't call them "junk" either.

See your owner's manual for the stock damping settings. I would set them back to that, then ride it and readjust to your liking from there.....
