Can you disconnect the EBS on the Hawkeye?

Title about says it all I guess. I'm sick the the constant "clunking" while going down hill. That HAS to be hard on the belt and transmission. Plus I can't see it slows the quad down on a hill, it just makes that &^%#$@ noise. I guess I'd rather just use the brakes.

EBS is just a one way bearing made onto the primary clutch. You may be able to change the clutch to a non EBS clutch or you can put a radio on the front rack to drown out the clanking noise.

Hawkeyes clutch design a little different than rest of polaris lineup. It is noisier but havent had many problems in holding up.

The thing I hate the worst about the set up is it will lock up the rear wheels momentarely and makes if fun going down a steep hill. But it sounds like I will have to live with it.

all the ebs clutches will lock up the rear wheels the same way so we just learn to play w/ the throttle a little to keep the idle up.

Hmmmm...I haven't seen this on either of our bikes! The EBS works VERY well on both of them...actually it may work a little too good since it slows the bike down any time you let off of the throttle! Are you sure that there isn't a problem with your clutch?

Good question jokout. I'm assuming the clutch is ok. The EBS will slow the quad down when you let off the throttle, as a matter of fact I rarely need to use the brakes riding around here at home since the thing slows down by itself. It's while on the trail that it becomes a "problem". I'm simply tired of the damn clucking, rear tires locking up momentaraly, etc...

did you pull the cover off to check to see if anythings going on?</end quote></div>
Nope not yet. If it drives ok, and the clunking is normal what else could be wrong? Could the belt be stretched? I do notice a slight vibration when slowing down off throttle. Could it be the belt slapping around?
What is the expected belt life on the Hawkeye? I have about 515 miles on it, and about 51 hours. It has been ridden up sand hills and I will admit it takes full throttle to get up them. They are long and steep.

if the belt was junk you would feel a differnce in peformance and i dont think the belt would be doing it. the life of a belt depends on much it gets burned but alot more then those miles for sure. imo.
