I just installed a new 2000lb Warn on my machine and was wondering why the manual said to unwrap and re-wrap the cable back on the spool under 500 lbs. tension? It looks like its wound OK on the drum from the factory. If not what is the best procedure for re-wrapping? Also on the control switch, would it help to spray some type of water displacing/lubricating spray on it to keep it from seizing or corroding or not? Thanks.

The reason for "re-wrapping" the cable is to "stretch" it. This prevents the cable from drawing into the inner wraps which could cause the cable to bind or damage itself. As far as lubricating the cable, the manual said it isn't necassary but I don't think it would hurt.
