I'm starting to do my homework for next spring when I will be buying a new bike. I'm leaning towards a raptor 700 or the yfz450. Anyways im curios to know if the raptor is as good of a jumper as the yfz is stock for stock. I mostly trail ride but their is a track being built where i live in the near future and I cant wait to start hitting some jumps. Also, how would you guys compare an 03 Z to these bikes shock/ suspension wise? Thanks.

The yfz450 is made for the track. Yes a raptor can handle the jumps but, the yfz suspension is more tuned for it and it is much lighter than the 700 allowing more control over it on the track. The raptor is a better trail machine. If you ride slow trails the 450 can be a pain, however both do great in more open trails.

i cant imagine a 700 on a track, so id think they YFZ would be a better choice cuz they can rip it up on the track and also do well in trails once u get used to it, i think Bill Balance rode a YFZ in GNCC i believe.

ok cool so you guys are basically saying that a 450 is both a trail and track bike. If thats the case ill probably lean towards the 450 considering i ride trails one weekend out of the month and the rest would be track/dune riding.

the 450 is not that good of a trail bike. yes they run them in gnccs races but those guys are in crazy good condintion. but for jumping they are better than the raptor mostly due to frame design. but the raptor 700 can handle a track no problem. both are good bikes the raptor will excell on the trail and the 450 will be better on the track but both can do both,

Mostly track with a little trail, 450. Mostly trail with a little track, 700. Equal amounts of both, buy one of each!
