Question for you guys with a 12t sprocket on a Raptor.

I have seen that alot of you have put 12 tooth front sprockets on your Raptors. I imagine this is for those of you that dont need to use that 75 MPH top speed. My question is, with the front end being hard to keep on the ground as it is, and what seems like too much low end power to me, why do u need even MORE low end? I mean I cant give it full throttle in 1st or 2nd gear anyway without flipping over, so I would THINK that the smaller sprocket is gonna make that even more so. Not bashing by any means, just trying to see if there is another reason for the sprocket change that I dont see.

I changed mine almost imediately after getting the quad. It felt like first gear was too high, especially for the type of riding in this area which is more woods and trail riding.
As far as the front end coming up. Yes it does want to come up quicker but you learn to adjust your weight accordingly.
I figured it was worth a try since the sprocket was under $20.00 and it's an easy swap if I didn't like it I could always change it back to orignal.

I was ready to go to a 12T, but I found out that 2nd gear was perfect for riding my local tracks. I can keep a solid pace up with only some mild clutching and one upshift. Slow rides are where the 12T would be nice. If I go 1" up on the rears, I will go to 12T, but I think I will stay put right now.

ITS PRETTY MUCH JUS TO ELIMINATE THE 2 STROKE FEEL OF 1/2 GEAR..AND IT ALSO SLOWS DOWN THE REVERSE I HEARD..I HAVEN'T CHANGED MY SPROCKET AND IM NOT SURE I WILL CAUSE I LIKE THE TOP SPEED BUT ON THE SAME HAND IT WOULD B NICE TO HAVE...UNDECIDED..HAhah

After a few rides I found that second is too low and third is too high for the big hills. The 12 tooth front corrected that.now there's throttle to spare even on the long steep dunes. It may not be right for woods and mountains but its great in sand. When the salt flats dry out this summer I'll experiment with the 14 and 15 tooth drives. To WILDERP I'm 44 and just gave up a 250R three wheeler. I still have a need for speed. and feel so safe on four wheels I havnt learned the meaning of respect for my raptor yet. :-)
