hey i have a stock ltz 400 and always liked a 400ex better but never found a 400ex that was in as good of shape as the ltz400 so i bought that instead..iv had it for a year now and i kinda wish waited to get a ex but i found one and this is the info on it...

Yellow 2001 400ex with factory effex graphics kit, resleeved with an LA sleeve with heavy duty head studs, bored to a 440, with a Wiseco piston 12.5 to 1 compression ratio. Full White Bros exhaust, DG front bumper,
Barnett dirt digger clutch, +4 Durablue axle, +2 +1 Burgard a-arms just installed, pro taper bars, ITP T9 baja rear wheels with brand new 18" mxr6 holeshots, new sprockets, K&N air filter and freshly painted frame. awsome bike, just need the money for a car.

would it be worth sellin my 2003 ltz400 to get this 440ex??

 

If you really like the EX better, that one sounds to be all done out for mx racing. The 440 High comp kits probably isn't going to have the same reliability of a stock bore or even the 416 though. If it is really in good shape, make yourself happy. Anyway, what is it you don't like about the Z quad?

 

I'm the same as you... I like both... but prefer the lower feel of the Honda.

But I'm not blind to the fact the Z400 is superior.

I don't think I'd want a 400EX with the 440 kit.

You'd probably be better off adjusting the Z400 to meet your personal preferences.

 

im a yamaha guy but i do own a 400ex and my experience they are pieces of sh*t! Maybe a just got a lemon but my frame has had to be welded in 5 spots 2 times and the stock a arms are junk my shock mount broke off both of them but anyway it matters what your doing ur z is an excellent trail machine and a lot more reliable than the 440
