Im new to the sport but i got hooked on my first ride! My uncle has a Grizzly 350 which was nice but im looking for just a little more and wnat the fully auto fuel injected and 4x4.
Dont really know much about either make or model was wondering if i could get your guys input. I went to go look and the guy showed me the Polaris which caught my attention had has all the options i wanted.
I have a budget though i was looking to spend about $6,000 im fine with buying a leftover as well its not something im going to be able to ride all the time so let me kow what u guys think the pros and cons r between these to models?

The grizzly is either a 450 or a 550 (not sure if the 09 550 is out yet)
The Grizzly 550 is fuel injected and has every feature of the 700, just a smaller bore. Same chassis...everything.
One of my buddies rides a sportsman 500 FI , it goes just fine. Don't really think you could go wrong with either one.
Just whichever you can get the best deal on I would think. Look at leftovers from both Yamaha (grizzly 450) and the sportman and see which you can get the best deal on.
This link is for an 08 grizz 450 and 08 sportsman 500..the sportman MSRP is 1k more.. but you can see the difference in the machines

Well it really depends on which you prefer. They will feel much different ergonomically. Have you tried them out, or at least sat on them? Go with the one that feels right to you. Otherwise, if they both seem good, then go with the one with the better deal or the better dealer.
The Polaris will probably be better for work, the Yamaha a little sportier. I doubt you could go wrong with either, if you like the way they both feel.
I would personally lean towards the Yamaha buts thats just me.

ya i have ridden a 350 Grizzly but i heard that the polaris works better with the 4x4 feature all u have to do is flip a swith where on the yamaha its a litte more work to get in and out of 4x4 mode.
the guy at the dealer swore by polaris and said not to get the yamaha but then on th eother hand their store doesnt carry the grizzly's.
also i heard the tires are so so on the grizzlys again not sure if that is bs or not. your right the grizz is definitly more sportier im also wondering what company has the better warrenty and finainacing options that coould def be a thing that might be worth looking into
i just wanted to see if there is something i should know about either machine pros and cons thanks

both you just flip a switch..one you actually slide a button the other you push one in.
Polaris has a AWD when the rear slips the front grab.
Yamaha has a 3 wheel limited slip. It also has a front locker.
Polaris has it on any other manufacturer on stock tires on utes IMO. They come stock w/ 26" nice noby PXT's I believe.
I wouldn't make that a deal breaker or not though. Many people upgrade to aftermarket tires and rims anways.
Not sure about financing and promo's...each company's webpage will tell you that though.

When I had 4,000 miles on my first Polaris 500 the stock tires still had more tread on them than both of my friends' new Grizzly 660s with no miles. One guy is on his third set of tires. The other guys tires are almost slicks without many miles on them. Polaris doesn't need aftermarket tires. The frames are stronger too. I've never seen one break yet.
I got my last ATV for $1,300 under list price. It had a $500 rebate and the dealer knocked off another $800. Every time I compared similar models from Yamaha and Polaris at the same dealer, the Yammys cost more. Sometimes around $1,000 more. IMO you get more for your money from Polaris no matter which one costs more.
