Still no brake

Help! Replaced the brake shoes/springs on the rear of my 05 Rancher. Cleaned all the parts. Drum looked fine. Adjusted brake per manual. Still no brake or parking brake. Can anyone offer any advice? Thanks, Jim

Not sure but does the Rancher have Hydrolic brake on rear ? Or is it just machanical brake ?
If it has machanical brake the brake cables maybe bad , this happened to me on an older model Honda TRX350FM 4x4 and had to replce the cables ; the cables on the old 350 had the teflon coating worn off causing the brakes not to work !
But if the rear brake is Hydrolic the wheel cylinder maybe seazedup not allowing the cylinder to spread out the brake shoes , this is the only thing that comes to mind ; hope this is of some help and welcome to the forums !......

Thanks for the info Williebee, mine is the mechanical type. I thought the cam maybe worn out but had not thought about the cable. I'll check or maybe just replace it anyway. Really don't care about rear braking, but I would like to have a working parking brake. Again, thanks. Jim

Williebee, I finally got around to ordering the brake cable for the rear brake on my Rancher and got it installed tonite and that did the trick. Plenty of brake now. Thanks for the advice. Ride s Safe! NC Rebel
