I know that alot of the newer atvs are going with EFI and in a couple of magazines that I read the carb. atvs are faster that those that have the EFI. Also, isn't the EFI require more TLC; i.e.(mandatory EFI cleaning). Knowledge is powerful, so please someone help this poor person with a 3rd grade education understand the big deal......

well i always will favor a carb on small engines specially atvs and dirtbikes because most every1 who rides loves to work on there bike and tinker around but i think about it like this all new cars are EFI...so its nothing out of the ordinary people just arent used to it being on the bike. the atv industry just finally decided to start trying to use EFI, i believe its prolly more efficient than a carb too. but i dont really think its a big deal

One definite benefit is that EFI is a lot easier to start in cold weather. Living in Canada it is definite need.

EFI is alot better for fuel control and cold weather starting, but there are a few more electronic components that potentially go bad. there are pros and cons to everything, including this subject.

The thing that will keep me from buying a fuel injected quad is that it seems it would be more complicated to work on. I wouldnt know how to program it for jeting changes or clean it because i like to hammer the mudholes.

No program changes needed for jetting changes, it does it all by itself, that is one of the beautiful things about it. As far as cleaning it, I would assume the electronic portions are already pretty well sealed up, if needed you could probably waterproof it some more.

The deal is EPA regs require it in USA, and it's cheaper to produce one model than two. All machines will be EFI soon, even slowpoke Honda.
