Default Scrambler 400 Tranny Issue

My Scrambler has started to kick out of gear a lot. It is almost as if it is not being put all the way into gear and then it will kick out and grind. The local shop wants a small fortune to look at it. Is this something that I could fix myself? I have checked the linkages and everything seems fine. I currently have it pulled apart and everything in the transmissions seems ok too. Is there something in particular I should be looking for to see if a gear is worn? They all look to be in pretty good shape.

Don't let the hp numbers fool you. Its all in how you get it to the ground. Clutching clutching clutching!

Check the shift forks for wear on both side and on the shaft. Also check the main gears for wear in the bushins or on the shafts

ALSO ALWAYS replace silent chain. Check closely at engagement dogs on sliding and mating gears,if very shiny, burred, replace. Reverse is gear to gear, not usually a problem,Forward is silent chain to sprockets. Also REPLACE with new circlips on shafts, can reuse spacer washers if not worn!
