Buying a Blaster
#1
Hey guys,
I'm from Perth, Western Australia, I thought I'd ask you guys this as ATVs are still taking off in Australia and there isn't as much knowhow.
My girlfriend has just ordered a spankers CRF230 so she can learn to ride, I used to have a KTM400 and am once again looking for something to fang around on with her.
My dilemma is such, I am looking at a Yamaha Blaster ATV, not the most powerful thing around I know but while she's learning I'd like to have a quad so I can get off quickly in case she runs into trouble.
I am 6'2" and 75kg so am wondering if the Blaster would be okay, I do realise they're a small quad and don't have any aspirations of mega launches or hanging with banshee riders.
Looking at a 06+ onwards model, what are they like maintenance wise?
cheers for the help guys.

im 5'10 and 210lbs and my blaster pulled me around fine, you might need to put some upgrades on it to get it to really pan out, but in all i never had a real problem, except i couldnt seem to keep spark plugs in it, it would foul them out in no time...
if its bored over then i would suggest you look at somthing else because ive never seen a bored out blaster go long without needing a rebuild...

Blasters are tons of fun! You have to ride it reved out like any 2-stroke, and the little Blaster will pull your weight. You will be cramped in the cockpit however (your knees may hit the handlebars).
They need rebuilds fairly frequently, but they are simple.

okay cool, as far as the bars are concerned, can you put taller bars on them to give some clearance?
I really want it just to play around on for now, not to get too wild on, perth offroad is basically always sand so an ATV would be the go I think
