scrambler 2001 500 4x4 ball joints
#1
Hey, I just got my long travel struts here,
How should the ball joints feel?
They seem to move around ok, althought it seems really easy,
I can tug maybe a millimeter or two outward on the stud, it has a tiny
bit of play that way, but it pulls back in when i let go.
also, how am I suppose to tighten this thing? the stud spins around
with no resistance?

Sounds like they are fine. They should move freely. That millimeter or two of play is normal on a used machine.
The stud is tapered and will seat inside a matching taper inside the A arm when you tighten up the castle nut. This will hold it from spinning when you tighten it.

ok, so no need to buy new ***** joints? Am I going to notice that slight play?
It honestly might not even be a millimeter.. the ball seems tight, where the stud goes in i can move up and down the tiniest bit, hardly enough to see, but i can feel it

cant find out now , in an office...
How good are the polaris parts?
If i need them, i can pick them up at the stealer for 31$ a pop,
or i can order moose, or epi standards for about 19$ a pop, or epi heavy duty for 34 or so.

Well, I got mixed opinions on who I asked.
They look pretty ugly,
I feel slight grinding in there
and I can pull up on them a bit.
My uncle who has been a mechanic for 20 years says they are shot
if they have any play.
So I went and ordered all ***** replacements direct from allballs,
19 a piece and 7 shipping, not bad.
