Im looking for a good reliable trail bike i can race, i was thinking how would a 2009 Suzuki Z400 do? If i bought the z400, and fit my razr 2 tires, itp pro series rims, nerf bars, and my pro circuit pipe off my kfx 400, then sold that would it be worth it? My kfx is mint but what im wondering is it worth it to build up a z400 and ride it on trails or get a 450 and be constantly rebuilding it? I want a decent machine to race with as well.

 

I think it depends on how serious of a racer you are....... if you are a novice who is going to race a few times a year maybe the z400 will be fine....

But I have to wonder why your current z400 (kfx) with the 440 kit is not good enough to race........ it sounds like you already have a race machine that could compete with the 450s......and still ride on the trails.....

And why would you be constantly rebuilding a 450? I know guys who've been racing them for several years on the same engine........ they change the oil after each race and maintain everything but these new 450s are not 2-strokes.... they should not need constant rebuilding if they are maintained.......

 

from what I have read I'm not sure the after market parts will fit the 09 400. Sounds like they made some changes
