Just had this engine rebuilt. Got it back friday. Runs better than it ever did, other than this. Is this a break in issue or ???????

I would first check the IACV , make sure the coupler is plugged in .. If it is then this is how to see if the stepper motor is working..

Thanks guys. Everything seems to be normal. Taking back to the dealer. They had it 7 weeks before. Hopefully it doesn't take another 7. :-)

Make sure they scan the system with the HDS, then do an ecm reset. Almost sounds like a coolant temp sensor is bad/out of range or not plugged in.

There is a way to pull codes by jumping across 2 wires in the diagnostic connector and going through a key on proceedure while doring this, to make codes come up on the display. when this proceedure is used, it does not inform you after the code if it is open or shorted as the HDS does by noting a 1 or 2 after the code Then again, you need a breakdown of the codes. In that case I don't have them memorized as of date and need to reference my manual back at my shop

good luck at the dealer

It was a sensor in the air cleaner similar to a mass air sensor on a car. It was unplugged when the engine was rebuilt. The mechanic, who didn't do the other work, said its normally glued in and shouldn't have been removed. Hoefully its permanently fixed.
