Big Bear Hard To Start
#2
i have the same ATV. mine drags now and then when it is hot, but seeing how you have had work done recently, i would go back over and recheck the timing and the valve lash to make sure both are correctly set. if ATV cams are like some car cams, you may have to readjust the valve lash after a certain period for it to run correctly. if the timing is off by a couple of degrees, that would make it hard to start when hot too not too mention causing it to run an incorrect fuel mixture as well.

Well......I found the problem. I had the carb off for a rebuild and noticed a wire hanging loose near the frame on the left side. It looks like a ground for the starter. The only place it could have come from was under one of the bolts on the side engine cover. I suspect this was taken off when the timing chain was replaced and was missed when put back together. I finished the carb rebuild and replaced the wire. Now just touch the starter button and the engine is running. It took me 3 months to find this! lesson learned.
