99 bear tracker spark issue
Hello fellow ATV enthusiasts!
I have a 99 bear tracker that I am having issues with.
First, a little background info. I am the second owner of this machine. I bought it a couple of years ago from my grandmother who drove it,well, like an old lady! So the thing has been well maintained.
Last summer, I was trail riding and some netting got caught on the rear axle and the friction caused it to start on fire. I got the fire put out without too much damage (the back of the fenders melted and that's about it.)
I continued to ride it the rest of the summer with no issues at all. It then started to get harder and harder to start, until it wouldn't start at all. I tried a new plug, which didn't help. I then replaced the pickup coil. Lo and behold! The machine started up and ran great for a couple of weeks.
I was trail riding again this past weekend when it started to miss and then finally just quit. This took place in maybe 30 seconds. After checking it over I noticed the carb popped out of the rubber intake manifold. I put that back on and it still didn't run. I put a new plug in and still nothing!
Anybody have any ideas? Thanks a lot guys and gals

Take the plug out, re-fit the lead lay it on the head and see if you are getting a spark. If you are, clean the carb out. If you are not getting a spark it could be lots of things. If you are good with auto electrics, buy a shop manual and do the test sequences, if you are no good at auto electrics, take it to a mechanic who is. You can spend a lot of money substituting parts like CDI and stator and still not have a running bike if you don't know what you are doing.
