Default New to sportquads

Hey all. I am new to sportquads, no experience at all. 5'8 180lbs, Arkansas.

Looking for something reliable, good suspension, quick turning ability, quick and nimble. Will ride mostly trails and weyerhauser roads, no racing. The bike will most likely remain stock, but still want a bike with lots of options if i decide to add mods. I want to buy new.

What do yall think about these bikes?
Quadsport z400
Raptor 350
TRX 400ex
TRX 400x

I want something I wont get tired of quickly. Should I look at something higher up the bracket? Like:
Quadracer r450
KFX 450r
Raptor 700R
YFZ 450
TRX 450R

Thanks,
Adam

For a newb I would recommend Either the z400 2009 with new chassis and EFI,or the trx400ex or x they are the same quad.

With all of the upgrades to the Z400 for '09, it would be hard to choose a Honda 400 or the 350 raptor over it. At your size, you could certainly handle the 700 Raptor, but the 450's may be a better fit and they do handle/jump better. The truth is, I see a lot of 400 class quads up for sale because the owner decided to get the latest and greatest, and I see a lot of low hour 450's for sale because they can be a handful for certain trail type use. At some point you need to decide how hard of a rider you will be. For trails and occasional fire roads, the Z is likely all the quad you would ever need.

i would agree with scooter, i think a 400 would be perfect. i had a kfx 400 which was the same thing as z 400 and loved it. great for trail and all types of riding. being a beginner i dont think you would have problems on one at all. good luck

I would agree with most of this, except I don't think the 450s handle/jump better then the z400 at all..... and the z400 has excellent suspension and handles very well in comparison.....

The 450s are faster no doubt but in the handling department it can run with anything in the hands of the right riders.....

The 450s also have a lot more maintenance then the 400s or a Raptor 700 would have....

Actually, I was stating that the 450's handle/jump better than the 700Raptor. From what I have seen and experienced, the Z400 is closer(the 09 even more so) to the 450s, but still a notch or two lower when all machines are in stock form. The reality is, when woods riding the Z is not really giving enough up to make a big difference.

if your gunna ride only trails, then id get the 400ex. if i were you and was gunna ride some trails, an some more open stuff then the z 400 might be a better choice. both are great quads.
