They must do it for safety reasons............I know here in Canada the car/trucks and even snowmobiles sold MUST have daytime running lights that at active when the key is on...............Do your snowmobiles in the U.S. have the headlight come on when started?.(motor running)............Caper.........

Thank you guys. I'd never ridden behind it before, and guess I'd never noticed it. It didn't seem right. I was riding the new yamaha 450 grizzly my husband bought for me so that he could take control of the polaris x2. No comparison. That polaris is like driving a cadillac compared to the yamaha. We just couldn't afford another x2 and he thought the grizzly was a little smaller and more managable for me. I wish he had it up his butt. haha
I think he was also mad at Polaris because they never fixed our fuel guage. The dealer told us it was working, and then we ran out of gas the other day and it still showed full. Dealer told us it was out of warranty and polaris would not even return our emails. I think that was more the reason for him not buying another one, not the money. He's such a hard ***.

As far as I know Polaris tail lights have always come on when the key is on, all the way back to the first year. It's a safety feature so people see you and you don't get rear ended (as often). DRLs wouldn't be a bad idea either but hopefully when you meet someone head on you can both see each other.
