A friend was pulling something... later that day the hitch broke around the bearing carrying case. at the same time the chain got very loose. When you measure the two rear axels there is 3/8 of an inch difference from the rear axel to the front axel on the right side (it is closer). I guess im wondering what would cause this difference and why the chain got loose? I cant see how the hitch breaking could mess this up? any help is appreciated!!!

The hitch breaking wouldn't account for this, probably broke something else too, like the bearing carrier or the bearing, or possibly bent the rear axle.

The bolts on the hitch clamp down on the rear brg. housing and keep it from turning(an eccentric).
It must have worked loose.

That's my best guess.
