ds650 tires

I finally did some mods. Now looking for some tires. I drive in every terrain - dirt, rocky, mud, sand, and snow . My old ones are stock KENDA and are getting pretty bald. If anybody has any suggestions on all-around good tires. I found some ITP MUD LITE SP for about $75 ea(CDN) but seemed pretty heavy and aggressive. All of my buddies have 4x4 quads so their no help for advise.

had the holeshot hds and they did not last very long also am currently running kend radials... not excited about these either. heard good things about the razor II but are VERY expecive. the best tires i ever used on this machine were the stock tires. sorry not much help. these machines have lots of power & are hard on tires. if you find some that last post it up for the rest of us.

i have a set of mud lite sp's. i like them. the only thing is with any tire dont ride on asphalt.
they do really good in the mud.
also at rockymountainatvmc.com they are 77.95 each and if you buy over a 100 bucks of stuff it's free shipping.

I just found this forum. Great info for virgin DS650 owners
I am riding on stock tires and rims. I am looking for a sand tire. From everything I have read, I get the feeling that I need to be careful about the rims I purchase. What's the difference between .160 and .190? Do I really need to purchase a reinforced rim? Becasue I am on stock tires, when I purhcase will I need to replace the rears and fronts? Do I have to worry about a bolt pattern on a new wheel?
Just wondering.....
thanks

When you get sand tires don't get anything smaller than 22" for the DS. I've tried smaller and they don't work nearly as well for these big machines. And for Sand tires I would stick with Haulers, Extremes, or Edges, in 7 or 8 paddles, these are all made by skat trak(much lighter than molded paddles). As far as wheels I would go with a Douglas .160(so the answer is no about the re-enforced rims question) in the DS 4/143 pattern. No you don't have to replace the fronts either when you get rear sand tires but I would because it saves a lot of weight when you get sand tires on lighter rims on front. Good luck and keep asking if you have more questions.

silver bomb is right about the 22's. sand stars are a sood place to start for dune tires. these will let you tur easily. for better hook up a straight line paddle like a hauler is better. a little pricey and a little fragile. you may want to look at the sand snakes, these are molded straight paddles, not as deep as the haulers but they look beefy enough. my buddy has some and seems to like them. if you do heavy offroading (not the dunes) i would deffinately recomend reenforced wheels. i have bend all 4 of my stock X wheels. to me weight is not a big deal.... i would rather be a little heavy than be broken down on the trail. stay away from cast mag wheels as they are REALLY HEAVY .
