Big Bear 400 or Sportsman 500
#1
My '08 Grizz 450 and my wifes Sportman 400 were stolen.
So as soon as my insurance pays , I'm going to be getting 2 more. I liked my 450, it was nice but the 400 Polaris had way more engine. The Yammi just ha a hard time getting going from a dead stop. The clutch just engaged at too low of an RPM. For less money I'm thinking about the Sportsman 500 for me. Wife wants another 400 but I;d rather her get the 500 also for a couple hundred more.
But I just noticed the Big Bear 400 IRS. Who has ridden one? How is the 5 speed? Does it have good low end and also top end? It seems like a 5 speed should be able to have both.
I have a YZ450F, a WR250 and a TTR230 in the stable , so I like Yammie, but I just don't think the 450 Grizz is the best deal for the price.
The Arctic Cats look interesting, but I'm afraid to buy and ATV from Bass Pro Shop or Gander Mtn. Do they stock any parts or just accessories? Wonder if they know how or care to work on them?
I'd like to keep it under 6K

I loved my Big Bear but it over reved at 45 mph so... no it has not much of a top end. Anything else the Big Bear it great. My BB was not a IRS so they must ride better now.

i have 03 polaris sportsman 400 and my dad has tested them all 5,6,7,800. but the on he found the best was the sportsman 500.my dad has tested a big bear and he says its not that heavy in corners if yr over 10mph on a 45-90 degree turn. i would stick with the idea of a sportsman 500. but make sure that there over 2005 cause then you get the big storage at the front and the lock &ride system.

i rode a polaris 2009 550 xp over the weekend, incredible utility, the best, big chasis utility i ever rode, i personaly dont like the big chassis utilities, the trails are tight and steep, where i ride, so i prefer 400 class chassis utility. if i were to buy a big bore, the new polaris xp would be utility i would buy.

the lock & ride system is polaris's on acecerory system. it is the only system that takes no bolts to put on a rear cargo box or a gun scabbar.i takes 15 sec to put acecerories on.
its a reall nice system that they have made
