Default Is this a clutch problem??????

2000 Trailblazer 250 --

Seemed like jetting/carb problem. Have rebuilt carb and jetted to hotseat performance specs. Now what I get is.

When in Drive, you can nail throttle and it will just sit and sputter and eventually take off after about 30-45 seconds.

When in Reverse, you nail throttle and it responds great and takes off like a scalded cat.

I'm no expert but I think that's a transmission problem.

This is my first Polaris and first CVT, so not familiar with it, and honestly not impressed yet.

Push the over-ride button and try it, if it runs ok then unhook the black wire that goes to the overide.

it was for my son (14yrold). I just didnt expect so many issues i guess since it is in great shape. Heck I have a Kymco 90 for my youngest and that thing has never given us a hint of trouble.

hey KERBBIRDS!!

You may have hit it on the head for me.......but dont see a "black wire" going into the handlebar assembly. I have two connectors that plug into the left switch assembly. but neither has a solid black wire. Do you mean the solid black that goes to the actual limiter assembly near the oil tank?????

i would have to agree with jumbofrank, it sounds like a transmission problem. if i was you i would ditch the older polaris and get your son something he needs to shift. much more fun! good luck

polaris does not have a geared transmission. all that gear box does it reverse which direction the chain turns: forwards or backwards. the only way that it controls anything is from the rev limiter which is what it sounds like. there should be a black wire going to the rev limiter under the hood piece.
